Enjoy a relaxed evening near the lagoon, explore the bustling fish market, or take a boat ride through the Muthurajawela Wetlands, teeming with aquatic birds and mangroves. Overnight stay in Negombo.

Day 2: Negombo to Wilpattu – Into the Wild

Head north to Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest wildlife reserve. Known for its elusive leopards, sloth bears, and natural lakes (“willus”), this park offers a less-touristed safari experience. In the evening, enjoy your first eco-friendly safari drive, capturing the raw beauty of dry-zone wilderness. Overnight stay in an eco-lodge near Wilpattu.

Day 3: Morning Safari & Community Visit

Begin your day with a sunrise jeep safari, when animals are most active. Afterward, visit a nearby rural village for a community experience—interact with locals, observe traditional pottery or weaving, and enjoy a farm-to-table lunch prepared with local ingredients. The day offers insight into harmonious living between people and nature. Overnight stay in Wilpattu.

Day 4: Wilpattu to Habarana – Forest Trails & Culture

Travel to Habarana, located within Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. En route, stop for a nature walk through forest reserves and birding trails. In the afternoon, take a bullock cart ride and catamaran cruise through a local village and paddy fields, followed by a cooking demonstration with villagers. Overnight stay in a forest eco-retreat in Habarana.

Day 5: Sigiriya Climb & Agro-Tourism Experience

In the morning, climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers stunning views and insight into ancient engineering. Later, visit a nearby agro-tourism farm, where you’ll learn about sustainable rice cultivation, organic vegetable gardens, and local food preservation methods. Optional Ayurvedic spa session in the evening. Overnight stay in Habarana.

Day 6: Journey to Knuckles – Highland Conservation Zone

After breakfast, transfer to the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO-listed conservation area rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. Arrive at your eco-cabin or forest lodge, set amidst cloud forests and remote tea villages. Spend the afternoon on a guided walk through surrounding trails, spotting rare plants, endemic birds, and mountain views. Overnight stay in Knuckles.

Today is dedicated to immersive nature exploration. Take a moderate hike through the Knuckles wilderness, visiting waterfalls, terraced fields, and ancient village settlements. Meet a local farming family and enjoy lunch in a traditional mud house. Learn about indigenous knowledge, climate resilience, and forest conservation practices. Overnight stay in Knuckles.

Day 8: Knuckles to Sinharaja – Rainforest Adventure Begins

Descend from the highlands and journey south to the Sinharaja Rainforest, Sri Lanka’s last viable lowland rainforest and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. On arrival, check in at a sustainable eco-lodge bordering the forest. Take a short evening walk along the edges of Sinharaja to listen to rainforest sounds and photograph butterflies, frogs, and fireflies. Overnight stay near Sinharaja.

Day 9: Rainforest Trekking in Sinharaja

Wake early for a guided rainforest walk inside Sinharaja, a haven for birdwatchers and nature photographers. Spot rare endemic species like the Sri Lanka blue magpie, green-billed coucal, and purple-faced langur. Your naturalist guide will explain the region’s unique ecology, medicinal plants, and conservation challenges. Return to the lodge for a restful evening. Overnight stay near Sinharaja.

Day 10: Sinharaja to Udawalawe – Wildlife Meets Conservation

Travel eastward to Udawalawe National Park, known for its elephant population and open savannah-like terrain. Visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned elephants are rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
